Frequently asked questions
How long does employment verification take?
Most domestic verifications complete in 24-48 hours. Employers who use The Work Number or Workday Verifier respond within minutes. Difficult or closed businesses can take 3-5 business days and may require an alternate verifier.
What if a past employer is out of business?
We try a substitute verifier: payroll records, tax documents, W-2s, business filings with the Secretary of State, or a former supervisor. Each substitute is documented in the final report so your auditor sees the chain.
Do you verify 1099 and self-employment?
Yes. We verify 1099 work against tax records or client references, and we verify self-employment against business registrations, DBA filings, or professional references. This is treated as a distinct work product from W-2 verification.
Can you verify international employment?
Yes. Our in-country researcher network handles phone, email, and HRIS outreach in local languages. GDPR and country-specific consent rules are handled inside the workflow.
Will the past employer know who asked?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires candidate consent, and the candidate is named in the verification request. Your company name is used as the requestor of record.
Ready to run your first employment verification?
No contracts. No minimums. Paralegal-driven, FCRA-compliant, ready when you are.
