Documentation

Choosing the right searches for the role.

The right screening scope depends on job duties, work location, candidate location, regulated access, and your written policy.

Start with the role

Begin with what the person will actually do. A driver, healthcare worker, office employee, finance manager, contractor, and executive usually need different scopes.

Role need Common search Why it may apply
Driving dutiesMotor vehicle recordLicense status, violations, and role-related driving risk.
Healthcare or federal exposureOIG/SAM exclusionsScreening for exclusions and sanctions relevant to regulated work.
Credential-sensitive rolesEducation or license verificationConfirm claimed degrees, credentials, or professional licenses.
Finance or fiduciary dutiesEmployment credit where permissibleOnly when job-related and allowed by applicable law.
Senior or regulated hirePlatinum or custom packageBroader source review, verifications, and documentation support.

Avoid over-screening

More searches are not automatically better. Keep similar roles consistent, document why each search is relevant, and review sensitive categories with counsel when needed.

When to ask support

  • You are screening across multiple states or countries.
  • The role includes driving, finance, healthcare, children, vulnerable populations, or government-contract work.
  • You need a custom screening matrix for multiple departments.
